Oko Farms offers remote and in-person learning opportunities for educational institutions and other youth-based organizations.

FARM TOUR

Students will take a virtual tour of the farm and explore the various elements of our aquatic farm. During this tour, students will learn about the aquaponics ecosystem and the different types of fish and vegetables grown on the farm. 

We will also explore the role of aquaponics in improving food security for vulnerable communities as well as the environmental impact of aquaponics farming.

FARMING IN WATER

This workshop will explore soilless farming with a focus on Aquaponics. Students will learn about the history of growing food in water, examine the different soilless farming techniques, discuss the benefits and challenges of each growing system, and discover their environmental and social impacts.

AQUAPONICS WORKSHOP

This 5-day workshop explores aquaponics farming and sustainable ecosystems. 

Students will learn the principles of aquaponics (freshwater fish and plant production) with a focus on environmental science, chemistry, biology, and civics. 

DAY 1: Intro to Ecosystems and Aquaponics

DAY 2: Fish + Plants

DAY 3: The Nitrogen Cycle + Microbes

DAY 4: Science + Engineering

DAY 5: Designing an Aquaponics System
