KITCHEN MEDICINE

Learn how the herbs already in your kitchen can support everyday health and wellness. In this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop series, we’ll explore the healing potential of common culinary herbs and simple ways to work with them at home.

These workshops are designed to be beginner friendly and practical. Participants will leave with inspiration for using fresh herbs to support their health and a deeper appreciation for commonly used herbs.

KITCHEN MEDICINE: Kitchen Herbs & Healing Teas

Join us for a hands-on introduction to the healing herbs that may already be in your kitchen. In this workshop, we’ll explore common culinary herbs like mint, basil, oregano, thyme, parsley, lavender, and others, and learn how these everyday plants have been used for generations to support health and wellbeing.

Together we’ll talk about the nourishing and medicinal qualities of these herbs, how to harvest them respectfully, and simple ways to bring them into your daily routines. Participants will learn how to prepare fresh herbal tea (also called an infusion) using freshly harvested leaves, and we’ll share and taste tea together during the workshop.

KITCHEN MEDICINE: Aromatic Herbs, Steams & Broths

This workshop will focus on herbs that are especially helpful for respiratory health, stress relief, and seasonal wellness. Participants will learn about the traditional healing properties of these plants and how their aromatic qualities can be used in practices like healing broths, herbal steams, and simple forms of aromatherapy.

Together we’ll explore how to prepare herbal steams using fresh or dried herbs. Steaming with herbs is an accessible practice that can support the sinuses, lungs, and nervous system. We’ll also discuss ways to incorporate these herbs into everyday cooking and home remedies, including nourishing broths and steam blends that can be easily made in your own kitchen.

KITCHEN MEDICINE: Herbal Salad Dressings

In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore how fresh herbs can transform everyday meals into nourishing, flavorful medicine. Participants will harvest fresh greens and culinary herbs and learn how these plants can support health while adding depth and brightness to home cooking.

Together we’ll prepare a communal salad using freshly harvested ingredients and create an herb-infused salad dressing using simple kitchen techniques. Along the way, we’ll talk about the medicinal and nutritional qualities of common herbs and how they can be incorporated into daily meals in accessible, delicious ways.

After preparing the salad together, we’ll share the meal as a group and open a conversation about how we each bring herbs into our cooking, nourishment, and wellness practices. This workshop emphasizes the connection between food, community, and herbal knowledge.
